Baishakhi Mela and Cultural Show '08
Dear TBSNC Community members and friends,
We would like to update you regarding the upcoming TBSNC event on Saturday, May 17 2008
Venue: Witherspoon Hall, North Carolina State University
Address: 2810 Cates Avenue, Raleigh
Time: 4 - 9 PM
Program Part-1: Baishakhi Mela (4-8 PM)
This will be a fair of makeshift stalls set up on the front lawn of the Witherspoon Hall and run by community members. We are requesting interested community members to contact any of the EC members and register your table as soon as possible and no later than May 7th. We are expecting that our talented community members will step up and show interests in selling traditional Bengali delicacies, dresses, jewelry, books, toys and games. The registration will be done on first- come first-served basis and at a cost of $25 per table. Note that the TBSNC will ONLY run the drinks stall at the fair. We are hoping the varieties and the specialties of our diverse community will create a vibrant 'mela' for the attending adults to reminisce about the old days, youths to hangout with friends and the community to embrace the Bengali New Year 1415.
Program Part-2: Cultural Show (7-9 PM)
We are putting together an exciting cultural show filled with music, dance and drama to celebrate Bangladesh Independence Day, Bengali New Year and the Bengali culture. We still need performers in the Dance category and children's program. We also need two students (middle school or high school-level) who can present 5-minute commentary in English on the historical perspectives of '26th March' and 'Bangla Nobobarsho.' If you or your child would like to participate in the cultural program, we request that you contact Sigma Mostafa (see below for contact info) as soon as possible and no later than April 25th.
